Soiling and the anal-narcissistic character
Article Abstract:
Anal narcissism is associated with childhood soiling, a source of deep shame that leads to compensation through grandiosity and sadistic tendencies. The anal narcissist is characteristically fixated at the anal-erotic stage. Anal narcissists use aggression or contempt to defend against threats of humiliation. Thus they are often combative, with basic attitudes either of sadistic spite or entitlement. Besides the anal-narcissist and the better-known anal-retentive character, there is also an anal-expulsive character.

Narcissistic fragility in the process of befriending the unfamiliar
Article Abstract:
Among the psychic layers of the self are narcissism, ego-skin, superego, object, and object-relation but the apparatus must be reformulated so the concept of narcissism is not a trait or state but the "primary agency" that contains excitations. The notion of the familiar self involves the processing of perceptions into a set of familiar, narcissism preserving, self-codes. Recognition is a key narcissistic function that maintains continuity of the self.
