Spirituality and clinical care in eating disorders: A qualitative study
Article Abstract:
Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) techniques and procedures were used to examine the relationship between eating disorders and religion, and the impact of that relationship on treatment. Religious beliefs impact on attitudes and motivation in eating disorders therefore health care professionals need to be sensitive to the effect of changing beliefs including spiritual crises and not dismiss them as incidental to medical treatment.

Gender issues in the management of multi-impulsive bulimia: a case-study
Article Abstract:
The case of a 27-year-old man with multi-impulsive bulimia nervosa was studied to examine the role of gender in the management of eating disorders. The patient experienced increasing difficulty in responding to the treatment offered by a behavioral contract because of the predominantly female ward setting. This observation provides evidence that inpatient management of male patients with multi-impulsive bulimia nervosa in a therapeutic setting with a feminist perspective would be less effective.
