The Meaning of Normative Processes for Energy Conservation
Article Abstract:
A survey of energy conservation attitudes and behavior in the Netherlands is examined to determine the effect of social factors on consumption. Lower socioeconomic groups are less willing to conserve energy. No homogeneity was observed in conservation patterns. Specific conservation policies must be directed to individual social and economic levels.

Energy Conservation Programs for Consumers: A Comparative Analysis of Policy Conflicts and Program Response in Eight Western Countries
Article Abstract:
Compatibility of energy conservation policies with consumer policy goals is examined for eight Western natons. The model compares governmental, business, consumer organization and environmental organizations' programs. Financial incentives appeal to consumers. Each organization must play a role in promoting conservation.

Evaluating Acceptability and Effectiveness of Consumer Energy Conservation Programs
Article Abstract:
Options available to the Canadian government to initiate a program of consumer energy conservation are examined. Both consumers and program design experts were consulted. Energy efficient labels and grants for home improvement were favored. Ineffective programs are highlighted.
