The effect of multiple anchors on anchoring in individual and group judgment
Article Abstract:
A study attempted to determine whether, in group and individual judgement, anchoring-induced bias is reduced by multiple-anchor availability. The study's results suggest that groups, because they do not make estimates through anchoring and adjustment, do not debias individual judgement. Instead, group decisions reflect the majority view that exists when group discussion begins. Also discussed are the study results' implications for anchoring theory.
