The effects of operator implementation cost on planfulness of problem solving and learning
Article Abstract:
Four experiments were conducted among students from the School of Psychology of the University of Wales to determine the influence of operator implementation cost on planfulness of problem learning and solving. The results provide evidence that the planfulness of problem solving tendencies may be affected by the implementation cost of an operator. The problem solving method tended to be more plan-based as the cost related to the operator becomes high. The results further revealed that the varying degrees of planfulness used had differential effects on the learning ability.

The tree of life: universal and cultural features of folkbiological taxonomies and inductions
Article Abstract:
Two parallel studies on the cultures of industrialized Americans and traditional Itzaj-Mayan were conducted to determine the universal and cultural features of folkbiological taxonomies and inductions. Study one focused on folkbiological taxonomies while study two emphasized folkbiological inductions. Over-all results suggest that while creating folkbiological taxonomies and utilizing them in inductions is a universal competence of human cognition that suggests important cultural constraints.
