The importance of equity perception and job satisfaction in predicting employee intent to stay at television stations
Article Abstract:
Employees' intent to stay at television broadcasting stations is determined by job satisfaction, perception of equity, and level of education. A survey questionnaire that focused on employee turnaround was distributed among above-the-line employees of commercial television stations. Job satisfaction was predicted by the organizational variable of opportunity. The availability of job opportunities tended to increase job satisfaction. However visibility and transfer within the organization were not predictive of job satisfaction. The only variable predictive of intent to stay is education. Tangible outcomes such as salary and fringe benefits determine perception of equity. Both job satisfaction and intent to stay are predicted by perception of equity.

Parallel organization design is an approach that health care institutions may implement to obtain more control over changes and to cope with uncertainty. A parallel organization is an institutional, supplemental form that co-exists with the formal organization. An action research effort is described in which a parallel organization design is implemented at a 100-bed medical rehabilitation hospital in the midwest.
