Situational leadership theory: a test of leadership prescriptions
Article Abstract:
Interactions between leadership behavior and follower readiness hypothesized by the Situational Leadership Theory (SLT) were not supported in a recent research test. The empirical test of SLT prediction found in the 1988 work of Hersey and Blanchard indicates that leadership styles displaying high consideration are correlated consistently with employee satisfaction and and that leadership styles combining high consideration with structure contribute to the development of role-specific attitudes. Structure combined with high consideration can result in increased levels of open communication, less ambiguity in expectations, and improved supervisor-subordinate relationships.

Leadership and corporate audit committee effectiveness
Article Abstract:
A survey of 77 audit committee members, senior managers, and external auditors from 42 firms was conducted to determine the effectiveness of audit committees in relation to the types of leadership used by audit committee chairpersons. Research results indicate that active management by exception and transformational leadership influence audit committees in substantial ways.
