The mental health of young people attending a Youth Offending Team: a descriptive study
Article Abstract:
Offenders aged 10-17 attending a community Youth Offending Team meeting in the UK disclosed that over half had consumed alcohol twice a week, nearly half had used cannabis, and over 10% used methadone, heroin, or crack cocaine. In addition, almost half had not seen a physician in the past year.

Primary mental health workers within youth offending teams: a new service model
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates mental health interventions of youth offenders. The authors, maintaining youth offenders often have high levels of emotional problems, argue the involvement of primary mental health workers in training youth offending team staff has produced positive results.

Female offenders referred for community-based mental health service as compared to other service-referred youth: correlates of conviction
Article Abstract:
Young women with a conviction history tended to be referred for community mental health services more than other youth groups. This population also were more likely to report sexual abuse, running away, a history of alcohol and drug abuse, and multiple living arrangements.
