The pervasiveness of senior management's view of the cultural gaps within a division
Article Abstract:
The perceptions of the cultural differences within a division were examined by surveying 153 senior team managers and management team managers in an electric utility company. The Kilmann-Sexton Culture Gap Survey was used to determine whether the perception of multiple cultures existed. The results indicated that the senior team managers and the management team managers had similar social behavior, but differing values and decision-making styles. Senior team managers tended to have intuitive-thinking and realistic decision-making styles, while the management team managers tended to have inventive and sensing-thinking decision-making styles.
