The prescription privileges agenda in 1997: forward progress, future goals
Article Abstract:
Medical groups are confident that the prescription privileges initiative is will push through despite the failure of several legislative efforts in 1997. Between 1992 and 1996, prescriptions from nonphysician prescribers rose dramatically, indicating a trend towards prescriptive authority within the health care profession. The American Psychological Assn believes that psychologists will soon have autonomy over prescriptive authority after states amend their rules on the practice of psychology.

Is it proper for psychologists to discuss medications with clients?
Article Abstract:
Recent rulings on the right of patients to know about the effects of prescribed medication have decided that health care personnel who are not physicians may discuss such matters. Psychologists are frequently called upon to discuss medications prescribed by physicians as part of the psychological treatment process. Court decision applied to nurses and pharmacists may also apply to psychologists to avoid being accused of dishonesty.

Why don't they like us? Psychologists' public image in Israel during the Persian Gulf War
Article Abstract:
Public image of psychologists in Israel took a beating during the Persian Gulf War in 1991 as a consequence to overdosage of published psychological materials, which elicited strong negative reactions about psychologists in the public. Redundancy of psychological materials in the media portrayal of the 1991 war confused the people and made them apprehensive of the quality of psychologists.
