The social construction of injustice: fairness judgements in response to own and others' unfair treatment by authorities
Article Abstract:
Individuals tend to place greater emphasis on their own personal experience of injustice than on that of others. Data obtained from two sample groups revealed that mild personal experiences of injustice tend to be more influential on group impressions of injustice than on reports of more severe injustice experienced by others. People take into consideration the experiences of others whenever they establish their justice judgements.
