Time and consciousness
Article Abstract:
'Transitive consciousness' is the term suggested for the property the acquisition of which makes a mental state conscious. Cartesian materialism contains a strong inclination to assume that consciousness is an intrinsic property of those mental states that are conscious. However, it is not an intrinsic property and there should not be a forced choice either between an Orwellian or Stalinesque point of view. Any answer will become arbitrary, as also pointed out by Dennett and Kinsbourne.

Does the perception of temporal sequence throw light on consciousness?
Article Abstract:
Dennett and Kinsbourne's Multiple Drafts model contains many ambiguities which confuse the reader. Use of such words as 'drafts,' 'editing,' 'represent' and 'representation' are not clear and well-defined. Their two major errors are first, they confuse two different senses of 'represent.' Second is they suppose that 'subjective sequence is determined in consciousness.' Dennett and Kinsbourne fail to recognize that neural processing determines awareness or consciousness.
