Time and number discrimination in a bisection task with a sequence of stimuli: A developmental approach
Article Abstract:
The results of the experiments shows that timing and counting are two basic abilities shared by human subjects at different ages, although temporal and numerical sensitivity increases with age. It is suggested that verbal counting strategies can improve the accuracy of time judgments as it provide both a symbolic level facilitating the memory of duration and a way of focusing attention on time.

Algorithmic solution of arithmetic problems and operands-answer associations in long-term memory
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between utilizing algorithmic solutions for arithmetic problems and the development of associations between the operands and the correct answer in memory. Findings indicate that solving an arithmetic problem impedes the retrieval of solutions and operands and does not result in associations in long-term memory.

Does the coordination of verbal and motor information explain the development of counting in children?
Article Abstract:
Experiments testing the role of coordination in performing counting operations by children and adults are examined. It is demonstrated that coordination does not require additional attention and that counting in children is a procedure without promising development potential.
