Transfer of training between cognitive subskills: is knowledge use specific?
Article Abstract:
A training transfer theory inspired by J. R. Anderson's ACT theory of skill acquisition is studied. It tested the ACT's prediction of transfer and the use-specificity principle in an experiment involving the acquisition of computer programming skills. The transfer prediction was based on task analysis and LISP instructions were evaluated. There was a discrepancy between empirical results and simulation predictions which indicate that skill acquisition theory overlooks important sources of transfer.

A model for evidence accumulation in the lexical decision task
Article Abstract:
A new model for lexical decision, Retrieving Effectively from Memory-lexical decision (REM-LD) that is based on REM theory is proposed. It is shown that REM principles can be applied in a straightforward fashion to describe performance in a lexical decision-task.
