Olive colobus is described as one of the most intriguing mating systems in the primate order. The strategies employed by males to secure their mating success to determine whether the lack of male monopolization was a result of female mating strategies are explained.

A study is conducted on Japanese male macaques, to see if their chance of mating is good, provided the number of estrous females is equal to or greater than the males' ordinal rank. This study is done on these macaques as they breed seasonally.
