Time series and correlational analyses of inmate-initiated assaultive incidents in a large correctional system
Article Abstract:
Violence in prisons can best studied with nonlinear quadratic models consistent with chaos theory. These methods concentrate on the interaction of variables rather than isolated variables. A nine-year study at one correctional institution correlating age, population density and staff experience with violent assaults shows that conventional wisdom may not always be true. Overcrowding, for instance, may lead to compensatory actions that reduce violence.

Juvenile female and male offenders: A comparison of offender, victim and judicial processing characteristics
Article Abstract:
A research examines 61 juvenile female sex offenders in terms of their offending patterns, demographics and victim characteristics and these findings are compared to 122 juvenile male sex offenders. The research indicates different modalities of offense characteristics for males and females, which predicates different management strategies in terms of identification for these groups of offenders.
