Vocational Interests and Personality
Article Abstract:
There is no agreement as to vocational guidance test battery ranges or the correct procedures of vocational guidance test data structuring within the vocational counselling community. This research examined the notion of a common domain in personality tests and vocational interest. It used results obtained from the Minnesota Multiphase Personality Inventory (MMPI), Edwards Personal Reference Schedule (EPPS), and the Kuder Preference Record C (KPR-C). Principal component analysis is used as are hierarchical cluster analysis, factor analysis and canonical correlations, to measure structural stability. Based on research involving some five hundred high school and college students, six dimensions are identified as comprising the total domain of personality and vocation. Canonical correlation analysis was the preferred method of blending the two interests. Tables of related data are featured.
