Young people's work motivation and value orientation
Article Abstract:
Personal and postmaterialistic social values are crucial in determining young people's attitude towards work. A study conducted on Swedish people shows that adolescents are more concerned about inner values than economic work goals. The growth of postmaterialism may be viewed as a part of the cultural phenomenon that has affected the religious, political and social outlook of the people. The postindustrial society gives more stress on abilities such as flexibility and individual performance than material wealth.

Young adolescents' wellbeing and health-risk behaviours: gender and socio-economic differences
Article Abstract:
This article investigates factors associated with well-being and health behavior in British adolescents. Findings indicate that well-being is correlated with health-risk behaviors like smoking and fighting, that socioeconomic factors influence both health behavior and worrying, and that there are significant sex differences in levels of self-esteem, worry, self-efficacy, and unhappiness.

Self-esteem and mental health in early adolescence: development and gender differences
Article Abstract:
A study shows that girls' depression levels are more influenced by global self-esteem than boys' levels and that girls also tend to have poorer self-esteem. Global perception does not appear to affect the development of self-esteem. Females' self-esteem is generally global and less domain-differentiated, while males tend to segregate their social and behavioral experiences.
