Article Abstract:

Advertising agency Chiat Day has redesigned its New York office, eliminating individual offices in favor of a series of common rooms and project rooms. Employees can hook up their company-issue PowerBook computers in any of the rooms and each is given a portable telephone for contacting in-house staff. While the whimsical design of the space charms visitors, some employees are having difficulty adjusting to working without an office.

Pumping life into life: Ed Evangelista/Paul Wolfe

Article Abstract:

Ed Evangelista and Paul Wolfe are the art director and copywriter respectively on an advertising campaign for Life magazine. The two men, who work for Messner Vetere Berger Carey Schmetterer Inc, created a campaign combining black and white photographs from the magazine with eye-catching headlines and a red rectangle with text in white letters. The ads have won numerous awards, including the Clio. Examples of the ads are shown.
