From memo to demo: making slides that work together to tell your story
Article Abstract:
This tutorial offers some helpful advice on how to create a slide presentation using a microcomputer. The tutorial uses a sample case-study to demonstrate some techniques for turning text into visually exciting and effective presentations. The techniques suggested include not relying on the slides to tell the story, but rather using them as speaker-support graphics. It is also a good idea to punctuate the presentation with diagrams and illustrations, aiming for a mix of at least one third graphics. When designing the presentation it is important to retain a sense of visual continuity throughout. Continuity is important for color, typeface, location, size, proportion and alignment, all of which add polish and professionalism to the presentation.

Putting their heads together
Article Abstract:
The merger of two companies often results in a single organization with a hybrid identity, which requires a name change and the redesign of the company logo. Both Computer Intelligence and InfoCorp sought to retain some of their own identity following a merger. The new company name combined the original two names. The new corporate logo was completely redesigned, since neither of the two companies' former logos represented their vision for the new company. Graphic designers undertaking such projects must go beyond graphic design abilities to offer excellent communications skills as well. At times, these new organizations may have their own creative resources, but they simply need a strategy to implement.
