Formidable Forms: Xerox FormBase
Article Abstract:
Xerox's $495 form management program FormBase will handle complex data and print it on attractive forms, the software package rates as exceptional and is highly recommended. FormBase combines the ability to create forms by drawing fields on the screen, with a relational database for managing information. The database allows FormBase to store customer information and automatically fill in forms, FormBase also uses formulas to calculate sums automatically on invoices. FormBase can directly import files from programs such as Lotus 1-2-3 and dBASE III, as well as ASCII files. The form design side of FormBase includes 40 predesigned form templates, as well as a variety of fonts, boxes and borders, color choices and the ability to import logos and graphics for original designs.

Instant PostScript: PacificPage
Article Abstract:
PacificPage, from Pacific Data Products, is a $695 cartridge that brings PostScript compatibility to the LaserJet II and IIp printers. The unit is easy to install and use, but lacks the ability to switch automatically from PCL to PostScript mode. The minimum memory requirement of 2.5Mbytes may necessitate an expensive memory upgrade, but it will still be less than the cost of a PostScript compatible. Low cost, speed and ease of use make the PacificPage cartridge a good choice for LaserJet owners in need of PostScript compatibility, and earn the PacificPage cartridge 4.5 of a possible five stars.
