Laserjet fonts bonanza
Article Abstract:
The Font Factory's Fontmaker, Digifonts's Digi-Duit, and Atech Software's Publisher's Powerpak are three new contenders running against Bitstream's Fontware, the industry's Laserjet fonts software standard. Each program has distinct benefits. Fontmaker, for $94.95, offers the best-looking printer fonts, but the fonts quality and typeface selection is not quite as good as Fontware. But Selecting fonts and sizes from menu options is easy with Fontmaker. Digi-Duit has the best value compared to Fontware and the other two programs. The user gets the font generator and eight fonts for only $69.95. The entire library of 264 fonts can be bought for $349.95. Publisher's Powerpak, for $199.95, scales fonts at print time so that the user does not have to store bit maps on the hard disk in each font size that will be used. This program is ideal if disk space is limited, but the fonts are inferior.
