The Publish hardware directory: storage devices
Article Abstract:
Storage devices are divided into seven categories: external & portable hard disks, internal hard disk drives, removable cartridge & tape drives, CD ROM drives, and read/write CD drives. Two categories continued from previous listings are video digitizers and 24-bit color cards. Each category is subdivided into those running on the Apple Macintosh, IBM PC-compatible or UNIX platforms. Within each subdivision is the company name, company products, list prices, company address and phone number. Publishing systems require storage devices. Increased storage capacity gives users more files and applications to run and more printer and scanner capabilities. Removable tape or optical backup storage devices become increasingly important as large files and applications take up more and more space.

The Publish hardware directory: monitors
Article Abstract:
Monitors are divided into eight categories: full-page monochrome monitors, full-page gray-scale monitors, full-page color monitors, two-page monochrome monitors, two-page gray-scale monitors, two-page color monitors, high-resolution display cards, and 24-bit color cards. Each category is divided for the Apple Macintosh, IBM PC-compatible and UNIX platforms. Within each platform, companies and their respective products are listed along with the company's address, telephone number, and product list price. Experts suggest careful consideration before purchasing color monitors, unless the need truly exists. Color monitors facilitate layout and design, but they are costly and may cause eyestrain.
