The language of non-fiction
Article Abstract:
The language of non-fiction cannot be distinguished from that of fiction, except that in a work of non-fiction the names do not need to be changed. Non-fictional passages from Philip Larkin, William Burroughs, Nabokov, Beckett, and John Ruskin support the contention that the author rather than the subject matter determines the kind of language used.
