Richard Meier: leaving Los Angeles
Article Abstract:
Now that he has completed the $1.3 billion John Paul Getty Fine Arts Center, architect Richard Meier feels a sense of loss. During his distinguished career Mr. Meier was awarded the AIA Gold Medal and the Pritzker Prize in 1984--considered the Nobel prize of architecture. The article reviews the ups and downs of Meier's career and the building of the Getty Center.

Philip Johnson: struggling young architect
Article Abstract:
Philip Johnson at age 92 still goes to the office, designs buildings, seeks clients, and observes succeeding generations of architects. He lives in the Glass House in New Canaan, CT, a museum of his work, a house that grows to exhibit his new works and thus becomes a record of his achievements. After an illness, he decided to have fun designing small buildings.
