Sir Peter Hunt joined real estate company Land Securities in 1964 and became a chief surveyor in 1973, rising to become managing director in 1978. His management style is relaxed although he is more involved in the day-to-day running of the business than his predecessor Lord Samuel. Sir Peter Hunt has drastically changed the emphasis of Land Securities' portfolio by anticipating the growth in retail warehousing and shopping centres.

Rotch: expanding its interests

Property company Rotch, which was founded in 1982, is run by brothers Robert and Vincent Tchenguiz. Vincent is responsible for the company's financial dealings, and heads sister concern Securities and Commodities Trading. The company was initially involved solely in development work, but has moved into investment over recent years, and now has 400 million pounds sterling of investment properties.
