A war over numbers
Article Abstract:
Some property experts have been criticizing the way the Investment Property Forum (IPD) calculates its index. The IPD is used to as a guide for property investment companies. Some observers suggest the index should indicate the yearly performance of a fixed number of property companies. They are unhappy the IPD has included new companies into the index. Others want a statistical index which includes new companies to keep it up to date and relevant. The British Property Federation wishes to stop the practice of changing past indexes to include information on new companies.
