BIFM standards are good first step
Article Abstract:
The British Institute of Facilities Management's (BIFM) efforts to measure the results of facilities management (FM) services are aimed at resolving the problems resulting from the amorphous range of services which come under the FM umbrella. In 1995, the BIFM published a measurement protocol which covers what should be measured and how costs should be analysed. The protocol is intended to offer firms a common basis for measuring, so that benchmarking exercises carried out by firms will be comparable and of valid use for assessing value for money.

The Red Book: it's good to talk
Article Abstract:
The RICS has issued a revised version of its valuation rule book, known as the 'Red Book.' This is intended to dispel client concern about the accuracy of valuations and the basis on which valuations are made. The RICS is holding a series of roadshows to promote the new publication, which will have to be followed by surveyors from Jan 01, 1996. The reaction has mainly been positive, but there is still concern about estimated realisation price (ERP).

Securing a good deal
Article Abstract:
Landlords can raise money by property-backed securitisations and get a good interest rate. However, the cost of doing this for properties valued at less than 100 million pounds sterling makes it impractical.
