Balancing act in Oregon
Article Abstract:
The maintenance of a balance between company profitability and environmental protection is the responsibility of site selectors. Oregon helps site selectors fulfill this duty by implementing policies regarding the matter. 1989's 'Toxic Use Reduction and Hazardous Waste Reduction Act' was enacted to help firms develop plans that would reduce hazardous wastes. In 1994, Oregon actively participated in a conference where sustainability issues were discussed. Meanwhile, the League of Oregon Cities is enjoining communities to draw up planning projects for their communities beyond 2000.
