Beat the competition fairly
Article Abstract:
Parts of the the UK Competition Act will have relevance for those working in the property and land sectors. The government has introduced some exclusions to Chapter I of its Competition Act when it was realised many land agreements would be unfairly covered in the Act. Land agreements, including restrictive convents on freehold land, leases between landlords and tenants and commercial leases restricting landlords from allowing competing tenants into a nearby area, are excluded from the act. The Office of Fair Trading has the power to fine companies in breach of the new act.

Attracting investors
Article Abstract:
Building developments are only successful if they are converted into real investment, and can often fail at the later stages of the project due to problems with pre-letting agreements. The developer should be able to present all necessary paper-work when requested. Other areas of difficulty are discussed such as fitting-out and insurance, warranties, practical completion, planning consents and lease terms.
