Bidders breeze in
Article Abstract:
The retail market in Lancaster, England, is responding well to the general recovery in the UK economy. A new 28 million pounds shopping centre has only 20% of units left unoccupied. The council has been very involved in a redevelopment scheme on the waterfront which includes a cinema and a variety of food outlets. The market for office properties is slow in Lancaster with many second-hand buildings available. The retail market in Morecambe, England, is not as buoyant as in Lancaster with some shops being let for as little as 25 pounds sterling per week.

Crowded streets
Article Abstract:
The increasing demand for office space in Soho, London, England, has lead to rent levels of 33 pounds sterling in Spring 1997 which is a 15% increase on rents in 1996. The area is a very popular location for businesses involved in the media although some agents suggest that media companies will not pay very high rents. Some media companies are planning to move to cheaper locations but will retain a nominal presence in Soho. The supply of office buildings has declined by 30% during 1996-97 and no new construction projects are in progress.
