Is anyone listening to Latham?
Article Abstract:
It is nearly two years since Sir Michael Latham produced his report on reforming the UK construction industry, but both businesses and government seem to be dragging their feet over implementing his proposals. The 1994 report, Constructing the Team, seeks to improve productivity and co-operation in the construction industry. The measures proposed included government ministries becoming 'best practice clients' and legislation to outlaw unfair contracts. While some aspects of the report have been implemented, work on other measures is progressing only slowly.

An edge for those fluent in euroese
Article Abstract:
UK property companies which have already established a presence in continental Europe are likely to continue to expand there, but continental European developers and investors will probably not show the same level of interest in the UK market in the short and medium term. The implementation of the single European currency will eliminate the currency risk traditionally faced by UK developers and investors when operating in continental Europe, and there is likely to be a rise in cross-border investment activity within Europe.
