Capital appreciation
Article Abstract:
House prices in the London area continue to benefit from high consumer confidence, plentiful jobs in the service and information technology sectors and good infrastructure which makes it attractive to outside investment from new firms. Plans by automobile manufacturer Ford to relocate a new design studio to the city centre highlights London's appeal to young, innovative industries as well as the traditional financial sector. The average weekly wage in London was 500 pounds sterling per week in 1998, compared with the rest of the country's average weekly wage of 383 pounds sterling.
