Conspicuous failures lead to rethink
Article Abstract:
UK attitudes towards air conditioning are changing, with office tenants and now demanding simpler systems which are easy to maintain, operate efficiently and have low running costs. This trend is partly a response to the failure of many systems in the past: air conditioning systems have tended to be to complicated and driven by manufacturers rather than by user requirements. Air conditioning designs have changed, with a move towards partial air-conditioning, mixed-mode systems and naturally ventilated and 'free cooled' systems.
