Cut down on conflict
Article Abstract:
Mutually agreeable rent reviews would occur more often if surveyors were not required to act as advocates whilst acting as expert witness. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors guidelines on the correct code of practice are not enough to avoid subjectivity. They need to be supplemented in a number of ways to remove the surveyor's role as advocate. Five areas of improvement are discussed which would also significantly reduce expensive legal costs.

Up against a brick wall
Article Abstract:
The UK Labour government is continuing the policy of requiring house builders to include affordable housing on medium and large developements, despite the policy having been introduced by the previous Conservative government. The government claims there needs to be provision for affordable housing but house builders are required to fund the provision. The house buying process could be made more affordable, according to housing developers.
