DIY town management benefits
Article Abstract:
Hertfordshire's Hitchen, Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead have been the focus of town management schemes to enhance the business activities of the town centre as a defence against out-of-town organisations. Local authorities have been involved in this management process although the drive has come from local business partnerships who wish to improve the town. Both private and public funds have been used to finance the schemes.

City defences up

Retail centre Broughton Shopping Park (BSP), Wales, is attracting customers away from fashion outlets in the city of Chester, England. BSP is a 300,000 square-foot complex which comprises large retail stores including WH Smith, Tesco PLC and F.W. Woolworths PLC. Chester's residents will travel to BSP because they can park freely, according to Chester retailer Nick Legat.
