Diamonds in the rough: how should corporate America handle contaminated sites?
Article Abstract:
Corporate America is seeking for approaches to increasing stock value. Yet, business enterprises appear to consistently ignore the value of their own real estate. One major obstacle preventing firms from divesting their properties is that these lands are environmentally impaired. The emergence of risk taking investors who are financially strong is bringing new opportunities for Corporate America to divest such environmentally impaired properties, which are also called brownfields, and the liabilities associated with such assets.

Seasonal variation in cost-of-funds at thrift institutions
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate seasonal variations for cost-of-funds (COF) in thrift institutions. The study considers eleventh district COFs and focuses on a twelve-month variation in the average national COF. Results show that maladjustment of length-of-month effects generate COF seasonality. In addition, the national average exhibits a downward bias while the eleventh district COF is biased upwards over short periods.
