Fashion buyers scramble for Manchester shops site
Article Abstract:
Moves by NatWest Group Property to sell its 15,345 sq ft listed building at 35 King Street, Manchester, attracted considerable attention from potential purchasers, as the building is in the top fashion retailing spot in the city. A purchase has been agreed with Midland Bank Trust Co, Castlemere Properties and Pilton Land, which are paying more than 4 million pounds sterling. Planning permission must still be received, but the developers hope to be able to start work in early 1996.

North West feels the land squeeze
Article Abstract:
The UK government has decided that no green-belt areas in the north west of England will be released for development. This means that the region could suffer from a lack of key sites, thus preventing it from promoting itself as a location for large new developments. Local real estate agents believe that the new DOE regional planning guidance for the area is too inflexible, and point out that this will also have an impact on future employment.
