Hotel food and beverage departments: are they profitable?
Article Abstract:
The food and beverage (F&B) departments of service hotels' profit ratio before expenses is based on credit card commissions, administrative and general expenses, and liability insurance. It is also based on licences, marketing costs, energy costs, repairs, maintenance, management fees, property taxes, property insurance, reserves for capital, and other debt expense. F&B as one of a hotel's amenities, operates at a very high service standard and working hours. Payroll costs are higher since it employs a larger staff to maintain its image and service level.

The worker adjustment and retraining notification act: impact on the hotel industry
Article Abstract:
Hotel owners are advised to notify their employees about being laid off 60 days before the lay-off takes effect. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act stipulates that a failure to notify their workers would require them to pay 60 days worth of benefits and pay to each employee being laid off. The law is only valid for companies having at least 100 full-time employees and planning to release at least 50 of those employees. The owner is also responsible for giving notice before selling the property.
