Interstate 69: charting a new route for commerce
Article Abstract:
Proponents of the I-69 Mid-Continent Coalition are proposing to extend the existing Interstate 69 highway into a trans-continental highway which would increase trade and commercial activity between Canada, the US, and Mexico. The I-69 would be stretched to pass through Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas to form a transportation corridor that would link commercial, manufacturing and transportation concerns of the three countries. The states included in the proposal hold 40% of the US manufacturing industry output and would provide sufficient number of air and sea transport links for international trade.
