Nanotechnology can be used for a variety of functions like drug delivery, radio frequency identification tags, drug development, etc. United States is starting five nanotechnology research centers to develop this field of science. Some of the companies and universities carrying out research on nanotechnology products like Dendritic Nanotechnologies, Central Michigan University, North Dakota State University Center for Nanoscale Science & Engineering, etc., are discussed. The products and applications on which these companies and universities are conducting research are also discussed. States that ranked as top ten for nanotechnology based research and industries in 2005 are listed.
