Law lords give landlords extra powers on privity
Article Abstract:
Law lords have ruled in a recent case that landlords attempting to recover rent and service charge arrears from insolvent assignees are permitted to claim directly against any former tenant. This means that they are not required to spend a very long time attempting to take legal action against successive assignees, but may choose the strongest one. The ruling does not affect new leases, which no longer have privity.

Many more people are now attending football matches as the facilities at stadia improve. Football has become a priority for leisure industry developers, especially as clubs begin to accept the need to offer new attractions if they are to encourage those attending matches to spend more money. It has become common for clubs to relocate to new grounds, while others are redeveloping in order to meet new expectations.
