Moving with the times
Article Abstract:
Norwich Union Investment Management has used the recession years and the slump in real estate prices to review its property investment portfolio. The company suffered badly in the early 1990s, mainly because of its heavy investment in City of London offices. Real estate assets currently account for around 15% of the company's total investment portfolio. The reduction in its City office portfolio is balanced by investment in industrial and retail property. Additionally, the company will reduce to zero its presence in continental Europe. An important forthcoming scheme is the speculative redevelopment of its former offices in Leeds.
