The President-elect of the National Association of Realtors, Martin Edwards Jr., testified before the U.S. House Financial Services subcommittee in favor of the continued presence of secondary mortgage market companies. Richard Baker, the chairman of the subcommittee has been trying to control the attempts of second mortgage market practitioners Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from expanding their businesses, citing the moves as a risk to the economy.
