Resolution of commercial lease disputes
Article Abstract:
Defaults, reasonability and space measurement are three important issues that an arbitrators must confront to resolve disputes involving commercial leases. Often knowledge of current industry practices and common sense are employed in such arbitration cases. The examination of evidence is also an important technique leading to resolution. Some of the common questions and issues that arise in regards to space measurement, default and reasonability are presented.

Playing the lease renewal game to win
Article Abstract:
Renew-in-place decisions can be worth several millions of dollars to the owners. Lease expirations can create opportunities for considerable cost reductions. Several business enterprises pay a premium whenever they would not relocate but renew their lease instead. They should be given discounts for the landlord derives savings from the tenant's decision to stay. Tenants should derive most of the economic benefits, not just the landlords.
