Article Abstract:
Boardroom upheavals took place at both large and small UK real estate companies in 1997. Peter and Michael Freeman relinquished their position as chief executives of Argent, for example, while Nick Leslau left Burford and Asda Property saw the departure of managing director Tony Roscoe. Desmond Bloom left Premier Land, and Bourne End saw the resignation of chief executive Leo Noe. However, former Slough Estates managing director Roger Carey returned from managing a private company to become head of J Saville Gordon.

Goodman's challenge
Article Abstract:
Tops Estates Chmn and Managing Director Everard Goodman does not feel that he is hard to work for, even though he admits that he is a direct person. He is currently not considering retiring, even though he has installed a young management team. He is unwilling to comment on speculation that he would be willing to sell the company at around 250p per share. Some observers feel that he still runs Tops Estates like a traditional family business, with his management style being autocratic and eccentric.
