Occupier survey key results
Article Abstract:
A survey conducted amongst businesses occupying property in London, England, examined a range of issues. The majority of retail, leisure and industrial companies felt their local councils did not do enough to promote their areas as business locations, although office occupiers were happier with their councils, and three quarters of all businesses surveyed favoured a return to a unitary planning authority for Greater London. Sixty per cent of occupiers would be in favour of tall landmark buildings in London, but about half of these would support the concept only for exceptional circumstances.

Around 50% of business executives questioned felt that a change in government following the UK general election would not affect how much consumers spend. Some 300 senior managers of industrial, retail, leisure and commercial businesses in the North East of England were interviewed for the Estates Gazette survey.. Almost 50% of leisure, retail and office occupants had been targeted by criminals during 1996-1997. The Newcastle Tyne & Wear Metro is only used by one in four of those questioned.
