Occupier survey key results
Article Abstract:
The local railway service in the East Midlands, England, is not considered to be an asset by most companies in the area. A study of 300 different enterprises involved in industrial production and distribution, commerce and in the leisure and retail industries were questioned concerning their views on several aspects of the East Midlands area. Some 40% of commercial companies supported a tram network in Leicester whilst 69% supported the supertram in Nottingham. Some 70% of commercial companies wanted the lace market in Nottingham to be renovated but most retailers were undecided.

Office survey results
Article Abstract:
Some 21% of office occupiers in Cardiff, Wales, and Bristol, England, areas, who were questioned, had begun to use modern working practices and about 75% felt that having offices which are suitable for information technology was an important factor. For 49% of respondents local rail services were not crucial but 51% felt that the inter city network was fundamental to their work. Respondents in both Bristol and Cardiff were concerned that businesses in London, England, gave them the most competition. Some 73 occupiers of offices in Cardiff and Bristol were questioned in Sept 1997.
