Article Abstract:
The local authorities in Leatherhead, Surrey, England, have reduced car parking facilities at new office development which may make any new buildings less easy to rent. Some local agents predict the rental value of offices will be adversely affected by the slow down in the global economy. The council is trying to develop Leatherhead's town centre to make it a more attractive shopping area. It is well used by the 10,000 workers in the town at lunch times. It is hoped the plans to extend and renovate the Swan Centre into a retail and leisure facility will encourage more visitors.

Out in the open
Article Abstract:
The Hertfordshire town of Uxbridge, England, is set to become the focus for substantial office and retail development. The town is under-supplied with good-quality offices and of the total stock of 167,220 sq mt, just 4,645 sq mt is available. Uxbridge's proximity to the M25 and M4 motorways are making it a popular option for real-estate developers, with up to four large schemes expected on the market by October 1998.
