Baan's battle with skyrocketing space demands
Article Abstract:
Dutch software firm Baan Co. selected Virginia to become its US headquarters. Baan company officials initially established their operations in California's Silicon Valley, but the firm's rapid expansion and the need to communicate with its head office in Europe prompted the relocation to Virginia. Virginia offered several advantages to Baan's operations, the highest of which is the state's pool of highly skilled workers. Virginia also offered Baan the relaxed business climate and cultural surroundings which mimicked the company's headquarters in the Netherlands.
